What We Do
And by “we” I mean you and me…
Me: I’m a overly confident, hobby “sewist” turning forgotten textiles into something new, useful, and beautiful.
I’ve been served too many scary images and/or videos of textile mounds piling up in various landfills across the world, that is why I’m creating What Was Wear.
I started making upcycled clothing in 2025 & by the end of the year realized there IS a limit to how many blanket coats one person can own. I’m starting What Was Wear to find homes for these recreated one-of-a-kind pieces.
I work with thrifted blankets, sheets, curtains—really any fabric in need of a second life. I try to intentionally choose pieces with rips, stains or wear that make them less ideal to be reused in their original form but still have plenty of potential to be transformed. All the fabrics and most of the trims I use are thrifted or second hand.
50% of every sale is donated to a local charity.

You: someone supporting sustainable creativity, second chances, and small-scale craftsmanship. Every piece has a story, and I’m grateful you’re a part of it.
